Adam Frehm Dobro & Vocals
About Adam:
Adam Frehm was inspired at an early age by the piano playing of his mother and grandmother.
He began playing the guitar at age 14 and was a jazz guitar student during his years at college. Shortly after
graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont, he discovered "his voice"
with the dobro. Adam has always been drawn to the sounds of the slide guitar; from the electric bottleneck
slide of Duane Allman to the steel guitar work on Jackson Browne, Poco and Neil Young albums.
Taking up the dobro and lap steel was a natural transition. Adam has studied the dobro with Junior Barber
(Gibson Brothers), Kevin Maul (Robin and Linda Williams Band) and Roger Williams
(Southern Rail/New England Bluegrass Band).
Between 1997-2001 he toured the USA with the bluegrass/jam band, ‘Smokin’
Grass’. Adam has recorded
on over 25 albums and also several movie soundtracks including, “Outside Out” -a film by Mike Gordon
(Phish) and “Hittin’ the High Notes” -a film documentary about the High Sierra Music Festival. Adam has
performed with many artists, including: Diane Zeigler, Strangefolk, Larry Keel, Scott Tournet
(Grace Potter & the Nocturnals) Yonder Mountain String Band, Mike Gordon, Acoustic Syndicate,
Sally Barris, Jon Randall (Emmylou Harris & Sam Bush Band) Gordon Stone, William Nicholson,
Jamie Notarthomas and Max Creek –to name a few.
In his free time, Adam enjoys writing and playing music for solo finger style
acoustic guitar and listening
to music from all over the world.
